Chilli of TLC Poses for PETA’s Anti-Circus Campaign

by

Courtesy of Chilli’s TwitterChilli of TLC has become the latest celebrity tapped by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to support its new anti-circus campaign, which aims to raise awareness of how animals are treated in circuses.

“My PETA ad was released today,” Chilli announced on Twitter, adding the link to the ad which features Chilli naked and covered in striped body paint. In the ad, the singer crouches inside a cage to raise awareness about tigers that the ad says are beaten and locked up by circus companies.

“There’s so much cruelty behind the scenes, which is a something that a lot of people don’t get to see. They’re being mean to them to make them do this trick,” Chilli says in an interview video clip filmed on the set of the ad shoot. “And I think that everybody needs to be aware of what’s really going on.”

When asked why she wanted to be a part of the campaign, the singer says she felt it was necessary to use her celebrity to “raise awareness to something that’s important, such as this,” she says. “Because I know for a fact that I would never want to be in a cage.”

Fans can show their support by signing a petition on Peta.org to end what the organization calls “circus cruelty.”
