Chris Brown reportedly fails to appear at hearing for rape accusation in Paris

by

Chris Brown reportedly didn’t appear at a hearing Tuesday in Paris to face a rape accusation.

The 24-year-old woman who’s accusing the singer says he, his bodyguard and a friend assaulted her on January 15 at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Paris. She told police then that she met Brown at a nightclub and then agreed to go to his hotel, where the alleged rape occurred.

Attorney Gloria Allred, who’s representing the accuser, said that Brown skipping the hearing was a “scandal,” according to the French news agency AFP.

“Why did he fail to come today? Does he think that he is above the law in France?,” Allred told reporters outside the court. “Does he think that the French criminal justice system is a joke?”

Brown and the two other men were questioned by police following the allegation and released without charges being filed. Lawyers for the Grammy winner say he’s innocent and are considering suing the accuser for libel.

In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault against Rihanna and was sentenced to five years probation.
