Seven years ago, Michelle broke with her then manager and boyfriend, Doug “Biggs” Ellison. They reconnected in a New York City as she recorded her new album, Milestone, and now they are engaged. She remembers he covered the rooftop with rose pedals, dropped down to one knee, proposed, and she accepted. Then she completed the song, “Unbreakable.”

“I wrote this song to say to everybody who may have pulled us apart that our love is ‘Unbreakable,’” she says. “Through all the thick and thin, we ended up back together again the way we were supposed to be.”

The Grammy Award winner believes their seven year breakup actually was a blessing.

“Every once and a while I have regrets and I do wish we never broke up, wish that we were married a long time and we had figured this all out a while back,” she reflects. “But I think I might not have appreciated him for who he is if I had gotten engaged back then. I was young. So we’re ‘Unbreakable.’”
