ABC/Donna SvennevikAfter recording two Christmas albums and staging a series of Christmas concerts, Mariah Carey is ready to take the next step: a Christmas movie.
Deadline reports that New Line has purchased an untitled Christmas movie pitch that would cast Mariah in a major role. The movie is based on an idea that Mariah brought to her friend, director/producer Brett Ratner. The plot is being kept under wraps, but it apparently has something to do not only with Christmas, but with the power of music to transport you back in time so you can experience your truest feelings. Music by Mariah and other artists will be featured in the flick.
Mariah’s song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is one of the most popular holiday songs, and has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide.
