After being roasted on social media for a tweet showing sympathy for R. KellyChuck D is making it clear he does not support the convicted singer.

“I’m not the R. Kelly fan here,” the Public Enemy leader tweeted. “75 million sold somewhere & I ain’t got 1 of his songs. And his actions were criminal my apologies if the wings of perception loomed beyond than the words on this slaveApp.”

After Kelly was found guilty Monday on nine charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, Twitter was on fire following Chuck’s original comment.

“Abused in his youth… an addict as a adult… Ike Turner served 18 months in prison. Rick James did similar time,” Chuck wrote. “Ike came out a changed positive human being. How long should R. Kelly spend in prison and does a USA system give a man a chance for a man to change his world around?”

Journalist Jemele Hill replied, “Considering how long it took for his victims to receive justice and the public scorn they’ve received for decades, isn’t a little too soon to be talking about possible redemption? I don’t care about R. Kelly’s redemption. I care that the survivors finally receive our support.”

Another woman tweeted, “Kelly had a decades long, consistent and ongoing pattern of behavior that involved multiple girls and women. He had a chance to redeem himself when he walked after the 2004 rape trial. Instead, he escalated and started moving his victims out of state.”

The 61-year old rapper agreed with her comment. “I’m stunned how this took this long and how the business machines around him are unidentifiable and they also perpetuated the fanaticism of what he was,” Chuck replied.

R. Kelly faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, but could receive up to life in prison.
