After patiently waiting, fans finally know when they can get their hands on Danger Mouse and Black Thought‘s joint album, Cheat Codes. The effort drops August 12.

According to Billboard, the 12-track joint venture will be jam packed with heavy-hitting collaborations from A$AP RockyRun the JewelsJoey Bada$$RaekwonKiwanukaRussConway the Machine and late rapper MF Doom.

Cheat Codes is the first hip hop album from Danger Mouse — born Brian Burton — in over 15 years, his last effort being 2005’s The Mouse and the Mask. That effort also featured MF Doom, who died at age 49 in October 2020.

As for Black Thought — Roots rapper Tariq Luqmaan Trotter — he hasn’t issued an album since his 2020 solo effort Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane & Able.

Cheat Codes finds Burton taking widescreen, soul-infused hip-hop soundscapes to new heights, whilst Black Thought’s incredible lyricism, razor-sharp rapping and raw hunger are somehow more commanding and thrilling than ever,” a statement reads. “It’s this unique alchemy and ability to raise each other’s game that makes Cheat Codes more than just the sum of its parts, and much more than typical producer-meets-rapper arrangement or side project.”

Interestingly, Danger Mouse and Black Thought previously in 2005 to record an album called Dangerous Thoughts, but that project never saw the light of day. Instead, DM went on to work with other acts such as Gnarls Barkley and Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O. He also jumped into the production booth to work with AdeleGorillazRed Hot Chili Peppers and many other big names.

Cheat Codes drops August 12. To hype its arrival, the duo debuted the official music video for the song “No Gold Teeth” on Wednesday.
