Daniel Caesar Back-Steppin’ ‘Black People’ Comments

by

Canadian singer Daniel Caesar has apologized for some eyebrow-raising comments he made about black folk last week.

The ‘Best Part’ singer was apparently drunk when he took to Instagram to blast blacks as “disrespectful, rude and mean to white people,” all in defense of controversial media personality YesJulz, who is white and who has been known to say racially insensitive things in that past.

Instagram users dragged him for hours over the comment.

ESSENCE now reports that Caesar has said,  “I apologize for how I expressed my idea because that is where I went wrong.

Here’s the clip:

The drama all unfolded after YesJulz did some dragging of two highly-respected black female media personalities, Scottie Beam and Karen Civil, both big in the hip hop scene. YesJulz has been known to make racially insensitive, at one point tweeting a t-shirt that read, “Niggas lie alot,” among other things.  The tweet was deleted, but not before another Twitter user screenshot it.
