The celebrated superstar’s video for “Hotline Bling” is up for a Video of the Year award and his hit single “One Dance” and “Controlla” are both nominated in the Rhythm & Bars Award category.
Beyoncé follows Drake with eight nominations, as her song “Formation” is up for multiple nods, including Song of the Year and The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award.
Rihanna, Kanye West and DJ Khaled also received several nominations apiece. Kanye’s “Fade” is nominated for a Video of the Year award and his latest album, The Life of Pablo is nominated for the Album/Mixtape of the Year award.
Rihanna’s song “Work,” featuring Drake, is nominated for numerous awards, including Best Dance Performance and Best Collaboration
DJ Khaled’s track “For Free,” also featuring Drake’s vocals, is nominated for the Best Collaboration prize.
Buzzworthy upcomers Bryson Tiller, Chance the Rapper, Anderson. Paak and Andra Day, have been nominated within the Best New Artist category.
Teddy Riley is set to receive a prestigious Legend Award and Brandy will be honored with the second annual Lady of Soul Award.
Performances from Jill Scott, Tyrese, Anthony Hamilton, Monica, Jazmine Sullivan, Bell Biv Devoe, Yuna, Tish Hyman and Kid Capri are scheduled to occur.
The 2016 Soul Train Awards, hosted by Erykah Badu, will air on BET and Centric on November 27 at 8 p.m. ET.
