Drake may be the city of Toronto’s most famous native sun, and he’s certainly the best known fan of that city’s NBA franchise Toronto Raptors.  Now the rapper has inked a deal to become the “global ambassador” for the team, which will be hosting the 2016 NBA All Star game. The Toronto Star reports the Canadian rapper was selected to consult and help re-brand the franchise.

“I’m extremely excited to finally be part of a team I grew up a die hard fan of, I’m excited for the new vision,” he said during a press conference.  “I’ve attended a lot of all-star games, a lot of NBA games but the opportunity to be a part of this NBA franchise at home has me more excited than anything.  I think it has everything to do with the fact that it represents where I’m from, and any opportunity to represent where I’m from is the best opportunity I can ask for.”

“I hope to attend as many games as possible,” Drizzy said in reference to his busy schedule.  To support his latest album, Nothing was the Same, the rapper has embarked on his North American outing, dubbed Would You Like A Tour?, alongside Miguel and Future, which concludes November 15 in Los Angeles.

In related news, Drake’s latest single, “Hold On We’re Going Home” with Majid Jordan, currently sits atop Billboard‘s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart.
