Drake’s ‘Scorpion’ sets one-week streaming record in only three days

by

Republic RecordsDrake needed only three days to set the one-week streaming record with his new album, Scorpion.

The double album totaled over 435 million streams through Sunday, breaking the one-week record of 431 million set by Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys for the week ending May 3, Billboard reports. It’s estimated that Scorpion could reach over 700 million streams by Thursday.

Scorpion is also expected to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart with over 700,000 units sold.  If it does, that would be the biggest sales week of the year.

A track creating a lot of buzz on the album is “Emotionless,” one of several on the album where Drake reveals he has a son. The track samples a club remix of Mariah Carey’s 1991 number one hit “Emotions,” and she’s now expressed her love for the song on social media.

Carey posted a screenshot of her phone on Instagram, showing that she was listening to the track, adding three fire emojis.

In “Emotionless,” Drake raps,” I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world/I was hidin’ the world from my kid.”
