— Actor/comedian Eddie Murphy is in talks to play the “Godfather of Funk,” George Clinton, in an upcoming biopic, Deadline reports.

The film will tell the story of Clinton’s contribution to funk music, highlighting his humble beginnings in North Carolina and his musical influence on artists like TupacDr. DreSnoop Dogg and Ice Cube

Murphy will also executive produce the film, according to the report, alongside partners John Davis and Catherine Davis of the Davis Entertainment production company.

— The musical guest for this weekend’s Saturday Night Live episode is none other than Gunna

The rapper, alongside host Jerrod Carmichael and SNL cast member Heidi Gardner, revealed the news in a funny, skit-like announcement video on Friday.

“Guys, let’s make a promise right now that we’re all gonna bring our A-game this week,” Gardner says in the clip. “Jerrod gonna,” adds Carmichael. After pausing a beat and contemplating his response, the rapper follows by saying, “Gunna gonna.”

The upcoming Saturday Night Live episode airs April 2 on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET.

— It seems that Martin Lawrence wanted to add his opinion on the Oscars slap.

On Friday, the 56-year-old comedian shared a past video of himself where he’s speaking about his comedic boundaries and “pushing the American thing to the limit.”

“Once I get on stage, I’m a kid in a candy store,” the actor says in the clip. Fans speculated that the post was in reference to and in support of Chris Rock, who, while hosting the Oscars, made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s shaved head, resulting in an onstage slap from Will Smith

“Don’t know any other way!,” Lawrence captioned the post. A few days earlier, Lawrence posted an image of Smith at the Oscars, congratulating the actor on his win.
