Interscope RecordsElla Mai has followed up her number one breakout single “Boo’d Up” with a new love song, “Trip,” which she released Friday.
Mai sings, “Maybe it’s your love, it’s too good to be true/Baby boy, your love, got me trippin’ on you/You know your love is big enough, make me trip up on you/Yeah, it’s big enough, got me trippin’ on you, trip-trippin’ on you.”
Mai says she released “Trip” so she would have a new song to perform on her Boo’d Up Tour which begins Monday in Dallas.
“As I am about to embark on my first headlining tour, it was important for me to put out new music and really show you how much I love R&B,” she says.
“Trip. Sometimes we misinterpret. Sometimes we don’t understand. Sometimes we make mistakes. It doesn’t always make sense at the time but it’s all a life lesson,” Mai continues. “Awareness is key. My bad for tripping on you. Trip. Tripping on you.”
“Trip” follows “Boo’d Up,” which has been number one on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart for three straight weeks.
