Fans on social media are still gushing over Kehlani’s latest album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, two months later.
The Oakland crooner accepted her flowers for her latest album, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in its first week after its May release.
“I appreciate y’all for the love on the album still! for real!” she tweeted on Sunday. “It mean[s] the world to me!”
On the album, the singer offers a nostalgic R&B flow with modern neo-soul flair, creating one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2020, with guest appearances from Tory Lanez, Jhené Aiko, Masego, Lucky Daye, and the late rapper Lexii Alijai.
Kehlani takes on the naysayers and her emotions, with her unapologetic lyrics, revealing more clarity about herself as a woman and her role as a mother, like on the previous singles “Toxic,” “Everybody Business” and “F&MU.“
Not to mention, the album’s prevalent themes of self-love, isolation, and social distancing, which are reflected in her self-shot and edited quarantine style videos — one of which has her in a lot of trouble.
Last week, TMZ reported that a luxury rental car company is currently suing Kehlani for allegedly damaging a vehicle she rented earlier this year. The company claims the car matches the same car she used in the music video for “Open (Passionate).”
