Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for MTVFormer WWE star Shad Gaspard is missing after going for a swim with his son at Marina del Rey beach near Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, the ex-pro wrestler and his son were amongst a group of swimmers that had to be rescued by lifeguards after being caught in a riptide. When help arrived, Gaspard reportedly urged rescuers to save his son first, which they did, however, before they could return to help the WWE alum he was pushed down by another wave and has not been spotted since.
The Los Angeles Fire Department shared their belief that the 39-year-old father “did submerge.” Spokesperson for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department Trina Schrader told CNN, “Weather permitting we’ll look for him in the air.”
“We’re using all resources to try to recover him as soon as possible,” Schrader added.
Gaspard is best known for his time as one half of the wrestling pair Cryme Tyme. His partner was JTG.
