Barry WetcherRihanna‘s movie career will really take off in the next two years, thanks to roles in two big movies: Valerian and Ocean’s 8. Now, we’ve got our first look at Rihanna in the latter film, which is a spinoff of George Clooney’s Ocean’s trilogy, with an all-female cast.
Rihanna posted to Instagram a shot of her riding on what looks like a New York City subway with the rest of the cast: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson and Nora Lum, aka Awkwafina. RiRi is shown sitting on the subway, with her hair tied up in a scarf, wearing round-framed sunglasses.
According to Warner Brothers, the movie follows Bullock’s character, Debbie Ocean, as she “attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded Met Gala.” To do so, she puts together a crew that includes all of the actresses mentioned, including Rihanna, whose character’s name is Nine Ball.
The movie arrives in theaters June 8, 2018. As for Valerian, in which Rihanna appears to play some kind of alien exotic dancer, that arrives July 21, 2017.
