In the latest Kanye West news, Andscape, formerly known as The Undefeated, announced its popular HBO talk show The Shop will not air its recently-taped episode featuring the rapper.
As detailed in a statement provided by SpringHill Company CEO Maverick Carter, the decision stems from remarks made by Ye during the taping.
“Yesterday we taped an episode of The Shop with Kanye West,” Carter said. “Kanye was booked weeks ago and, after talking to Kanye directly the day before we taped, I believed he was capable of a respectful discussion and he was ready to address all his recent comments. Unfortunately, he used The Shop to reiterate more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes.”
Carter said that while the show “embraces thoughtful discourse and differing opinions,” they “have zero tolerance for hate speech of any kind and will never allow our channels to be used to promote hate.”
“I take full responsibility for believing Kanye wanted a different conversation,” Carter said. “And apologize to our guests and crew. Hate speech should never have an audience.”
According to sources close to Andscape, during the taping, Ye reiterated the anti-Semitic remarks recently made on Twitter.
Other episode guests included rapper Jeezy and shoe designer Salehe Bembury. The show’s co-producer, LeBron James, was not present for the episode.
