Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty ImagesIn a scary turn of events, it turns out Eminem‘s home invader wanted to do more than just meet him…he wanted to kill him.

Back in April, the “Superman” rapper came face-to-face with an intruder, later identified as Matthew David Hughes, in his Detroit, Michigan home. Luckily, Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, was able to walk away from the incident unscathed, however, new details reveal Hughes’ sinister intentions.

During a preliminary hearing in the case against Hughes held on Wednesday, September 9, Clinton Township police officer Adam Hackstock shared the intruder’s alleged motives.

While on the stand, seen in a video obtained by The Detroit Free Press, Hackstock revealed, “When Mr. Mathers asked him why he was there, he was told by Mr. Hughes that he was there to kill him.”

According to the publication, the judge found probable cause to move forward with a trial and Hughes is scheduled to be arraigned on September 28.

Hughes has remained in custody since the altercation and was charged with two felonies — first-degree home invasion, which he could face up to 20 years for and malicious destruction of a building, of which he faces up to five years.

The outlet reports that Eminem was not present for the hearing.
