Photo Courtesy of EssenceLegendary singer Diana Ross is set to officially open this year’s Essence Festival on June 30 as the headlining act for that day. The global icon’s appearance at the weekend concert series will be her first.
In addition, Chance the Rapper, who will perform at the festival for the first time as well, has been announced as the closing headliner on July 2.
The annual festival is slated to feature more than 40 acts across five stages at the Superdome in New Orleans.
A slew of special performances will take place, including a No Limit Records reunion with Mystikal, Silkk the Shocker and No Limit boss Master P, and an all-female lineup on July 1 with artists such as Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan, Jhene Aiko and Remy Ma.
Additional performers include Solange, Daley, Elle Varner, Shaggy, Xscape, Sir the Baptist, Kelly Price June’s Diary, Chloe x Halle and more.
Essence Festival runs from June 29 – July 2. Tickets are on sale now, with single-night passes priced starting at $50 per person per night.
