Jacquees is putting his “King of R&B” claims to the test, with the release of his next album.

Thursday, the “You” crooner took to Twitter to announce that the new album will be called Round 2, and to assure fans that it’ll “go harder” than his 2018 debut, 4275.

Late last month, the singer shared that he’d had completed production on the project and boasted about the quality of the material.

“Playing my new album and man I wrote some GREAT a** songs,” he tweeted. “This more passionate for real.”

He added, “I appreciate all the inspiration, I worked with some GREAT songwriters and producers too. ‘Round 2’ soon!”

In addition, Jacquees teased that he’s teamed up with Lil Baby for a track titled “My Peace,” which he already deemed to be a “classic.” The duo recently wrapped the accompanying visual for the song as well.

Ahead of Round 2‘s release, Cash Money Records head honcho Birdman has doubled down on the Atlanta songwriter’s claims to the throne.

“I classify him as the King of R&B,” Birdman told Forbes in a recent interview.

“I remember [Lil Wayne] said he’s ‘the best rapper alive’ and [people] thought he was trippin’, but he stood on that … and became that.”
