On Wednesday, Janelle Monáe released a teaser for the much-anticipated video for her third single, “PrimeTime” featuring Miguel. The full video is scheduled to premiere on Thursday.
In the 20-second preview, the singers are visibly smitten as they smile and flirt with each other for what’s being described as an “emotion picture.”
“We’re gonna kind of be experiencing, you know, Janelle’s world set in a very Blade Runner-like setting,” explained Miguel during an on-set interview with E! News. “I happen to play the love interest in the video, so it’s going to be fun and interesting…The set is incredible and I don’t think we’ve ever seen Janelle like this, so it’s exciting.”
Janelle comments, “I’m just honored to be working with Miguel. He and I are both fans of one another so it was very organic how it all happened. I love his voice and I love what he stands for as an artist.” She adds that they combined their “superpowers” to “represent for love.”
Their infectious duet is off Janelle’s critically acclaimed album The Electric Lady, available in stores now.
