Each year, the Essence Festival gets bigger each year. This year features a week-long celebration of music, culture, entertainment and everything that has to do with black girl magic. This will be Jackson’s third performance at the Festival, and Bruno’s first.
Hosted by The Real‘s Loni Love, each night of the festival will pay tribute to various musical icons, including a special celebration party on July 4th at the Superdome in New Orleans. Catch Doug E. Fresh beat-boxing at The Real Hip Hop and R&B Party, while D Smoke, Masego, Tamia, Kiana Lede, and Jidenna will host their own Superlounge performances.
This year’s theme, “Own Our Power,” will be the main focus of all conversations, performances, and experiences, which encompass beauty, fashion, technology, film, food, wellness, advocacy, entrepreneurship and advancing black culture.
Other performers who’ll take the stage to entertain the more than half-a-million expected fans include Janelle Monae, Patti LaBelle and Ari Lennox, as well as a Reggae & Afrobeats Link Up Presented by Estelle that features Kranium, Elephant Man, Afro B, Shenseea, Max Glazer and more.
Raphael Saadiq will also grace the main stage to perform songs from his entire discography, including his solo music and his work with Tone! Toni! Tone!
