Janet Jackson releases first new music in three years, “Made For Now,” featuring Daddy Yankee

Solaiman FazelAfter dropping a teaser Thursday, Janet Jackson has released the full version of her Caribbean-flavored new single and video, “Made for Now,” featuring reggaeton star Daddy Yankee.

“Celebrate the feeling #MadeForNow x @daddyyankee OUT NOW!,” Miss Jackson commented on Instagram

Shot recently in New York City, the street festival video features dancers from Ghana, Nigeria, Grenada and Trinidad, as well from as the United States. This is Janet’s first new music since she released her Unbreakable album in 2015.

In “Made for Now,” she sings, “If you’re livin’ for the moment, don’t stop, and celebrate the feelin’/
Go up, if you’re livin’ for the moment, Don’t stop, ’cause I break those ceilings/ Go up, we’re made for now, not tomorrow/Made for now, look around, we’re made for now”

The track is produced by Harmony Samuels, who’s also worked with Mary J. BligeJennifer Lopez, and Ariana Grande. “Made for Now” was directed by Dave Meyers, who previously worked with Janet on several videos, including “All For You,” “Just a Little While,” and “I Want You.”

Janet will perform the song for the first time Friday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
