Myesha Evon GardnerJazmine Sullivan let the cat out the bag Monday morning, sharing a rare photo of her and her boyfriend, Dave Watson Jr.
“It’s real simple. I love you @iamdavewatson,” Sullivan wrote over a photo of the two on her Instagram story.
Watson is a musician, songwriter and producer who also co-wrote Sullivan’s Heaux Tales single, “Lost One.”
Compared to Sullivan’s last relationship, Watson isn’t afraid to shower Jazmine with the love and praise she deserves, especially on social media. “No tags needed, she been IT. Happy Valentines Day babe,” wrote Watson on Instagram, sharing a photo of the two after Sullivan’s performance at Super Bowl LV last month.
Weeks before, Sullivan shared details about her old and new relationship in a Vulture interview. “I never could have imagined I would end up in an abusive relationship, allowing that while I’m literally doing huge shows and blowing up in my own right,” the 33-year-old recalled of her past. “I never want to be that girl again, and I don’t want anybody to experience that.”
Sullivan admitted she and Watson “moved fast” at the beginning of their relationship and have enjoyed learning more about each other ever since. “We were probably just on the same page,” she continues. “We don’t mind talking things out. We know we don’t know everything, and that’s where a good relationship starts.”
Heaux Tales is out now. It’s anthems about self-love and body positivity depart from Sullivan’s signature heartbreak anthems like “10 Seconds,” “Dumb” and “Bust Your Windows.“
