Jermaine Dupri Thinks Janet Jackson’s New Music Is Cool

by

Rhythm Nation/BMGLast week saw the release of Janet Jackson‘s Unbreakable album, which has garnered much praise from her fans, including her ex-boyfriend Jermaine Dupri.

In an interview with BET, the hitmaker compares the recent comebacks of his longtime collaborator Mariah Carey and Janet’s new material.

“I think Janet’s record was cool,” JD says of his former girlfriend of eight years.  “I haven’t heard anymore songs off her album, but I think that the song she put out feels like it could be an early Janet Jackson song.”

Dupri, who last worked on Janet’s 2008 effort Discipline, adds “It feels like, if you’re a fan of Janet Jackson, you shouldn’t be mad about that record.”

So how does he feel about Mi Mi’s latest music? JD seems biased. “I feel like [Mariah] has so much respect, that she could be the person that could get people back into singing, if she wanted to,” he says.

Janet’s Unbreakable includes the lead single “No Sleeep,” which remains atop Billboard‘s Adult R&B Songs chart.
