Jill Scott is absolutely in love with her latest release, Woman, which includes the singles “You Don’t Know” and “Fool’s Gold.” The singer tells ABC Radio why she believes its her best work to date.

“I haven’t been able to stop listening to it. I listen to it as soon as I wake up, I listen to it when I go to sleep. Its kind of like an out-of-body experience, because I love it so much,” she says. She adds,  “You know how mom be like, ‘My baby is just the best.’ It’s not that I feel like that, I just love it. I really, really do. I like that woman and there’s just so many different women in this woman that I enjoy.”

The singer, who teamed with longtime collaborator Andre Harris and songwriter/producer Aaron Pearce, adds that she put together a project that both men and women can enjoy, although the title suggests otherwise. Jill breaks down what she hopes people take away from the album.

“I wanted women to see a reflection of themselves in some way, shape or form and I wanted men to understand us better, I think that’s the hope. And I also wanted people to really appreciate music, appreciate instrumentation, having somebody play their whole guts out,” she says. “I really wanted people to feel music.”

The set is the follow-up to 2011’s The Light of the Sun.
