Although Jill made no mention of the wedding on social media, DJ Mars — who DJ’ed the wedding — posted a series of photos and videos from the affair to Instagram.
“This wedding made my summer!” the DJ wrote in the caption to one video in which the groom thanks the guests for coming. “I’ve known Mike for almost 20 years, but dude could have alluded to the fact that he was marrying Jill Scott(lol)! All he said was, u are working with her in Vegas. He’s a total class act, he won with the wedding!”
In the video, Dobson promises surprises even the bride didn’t know about. Those surprises apparently included a performance by hip-hop legend Big Daddy Kane.
DJ Mars posted a video of Big Daddy Kane’s surprise arrival, and Jill’s shocked reaction as he begins rapping and dancing with the bride. “So, Mike Dobson called me and said I’m going to surprise my wife during the reception and have Big Daddy Kane perform. He then says, ‘Mars you call Kane to work it out.’….Dude walks in and they didn’t even recognize him until he starts rapping. Her face is soooo priceless.”
It’s Jill’s second marriage. Her first, to Lyzel Williams in 2001, ended in divorce in 2007. Jill also was engaged to drummer Li’l John Roberts. Though that marriage never went forward, the pair share a seven-year-old son.
