John Legend and Chrissy Teigen say caroling for their Christmas special genuinely shocked people

by

NBCJohn Legend and Chrissy Teigen loved going to random houses and surprising people with Christmas carols for their holiday special, A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy.

“People were genuinely shocked,” Teigen says. Legend adds, “We went to a pastor’s house. He and his wife were celebrating their anniversary that week. So I did a rendition of ‘All of Me’ just for them. We had a really nice time.”

The couple was joined by celebrity friends, including Raphael Saadiq, as they sang classic Christmas songs to complete strangers.

“We brought the Christmas magic and they were so happy to see us,” Chrissy says.”

We were dressed up,” her husband adds. “We had Christmas light necklaces on. We had full festive gear on and we brought a little joy to people.”

Legend and his wife say A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy was inspired by Christmas episodes of their favorite sitcoms, including Living Single and Family Matters.

“Every time there was like a holiday special, you just knew that just there was going to be a little lesson in the end,” says Teigen. “It would be really cheeky and funny and I loved it.

“Our special is really based on us loving those classic sitcoms, and doing our own version of that,” John adds.

A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy, featuring a special appearance by Stevie Wonder, will tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
