John Legend is opening up about becoming a father of three.

The musician recently welcomed his third child with wife Chrissy Teigen. The two are also parents to 6-year-old daughter Luna and 4-year-old son Miles, and in a new interview with Fatherly, he shared the touching moment between the siblings that made him “emotional.”

After explaining that their newborn Esti has “added more excitement and joy and love to the house,” he added, “Our kids are very excited to be big siblings. They love holding Esti. They love kissing her. They just love embracing this new little life in the house.”

Legend admitted that the couple wasn’t sure how bringing a new baby into the family would go and whether their other children would be “jealous or sad,” but overall they seem to have embraced their new roles.

“Miles might be sad that he wasn’t the baby anymore. But he’s totally embraced being Esti’s big brother, and it’s honestly made me very emotional and joyful seeing them together,” he said.

When Miles was born, we were given all this advice about how to bring him home from the hospital to Luna. She was 2 years old when he was born. But we didn’t do any of that for Esti, I think because the kids are older now and they just kind of get it, and they’re more secure in who they are. They weren’t that worried about losing us to Esti. They know we have plenty of love to go around.

Legend, 44, and Teigen, 37, welcomed Esti on January 13, after the pair suffered a pregnancy loss in 2020.
