ABC/Randy HolmesJohn Legend has another project in the works. WGN America revealed that Legend and his Get Lifted production company will executive produce its new, upcoming series, Underground, with John overseeing music for the drama. The show follows a group of slaves planning a daring 600-mile escape from a Georgia plantation.
“We are excited to join forces with WGN America and Sony and the talented team of writers and producers on this powerful project that we believe will inspire us all,” Legend said in a statement. “This series has a unique opportunity to speak to the passion and courage of those who risked it all as they raced to freedom. We are honored to bring our creative vision to this thrilling project.”
The series stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Empire breakout star Jussie Smollett as well as Christopher Meloni, Reed Diamond, Aldis Hodge and Jessica De Gouw.
