Before Lionel Richie receives a special tribute during next month’s Grammy Awards, the legendary singer will be honored with a star-studded tribute concert at the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year gala, taking place February 13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Organizers have announced performers participating in the 26th annual event includes John Legend, Rihanna, the Roots, Yolanda Adams, Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder, and Leon Bridges.  The gala will honor Richie, who was named the MusiCares Person of the Year in recognition of his philanthropy and his artistic contributions.

“I woke up one morning and someone pressed the go button to a dream, what I’m living right now is an absolute — someone let me in the room with the rest of them,” Richie says in an interview with Pharrell.  “I’m just honored to be here that’s the most important thing you have to understand. I am humbled by the acceptance, but also I’m actually honored to step forward.”  For his part, Pharrell tells Richie he “doesn’t know of anybody that can be more deserving.”

Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year gala will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Proceeds from the annual event provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.

The celebration culminates with the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on February 15, airing live from the Staples Center at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
