John Legend’s Wife Wanted to Talk About Their Infertility Issues for So Long

by

ABC/Randy Holmes Having kids is sensitive subject for John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, who recently revealed their infertility issues on her FABlife show. Now, the model is explaining why she decided to speak up about it.

“I just wanted to talk about it for so long,” the supermodel told E! News, before acknowledging that people meant well when asking about their baby plans. “It’s a sweet question. It comes from a good place but sometimes you never know what the person is going through.”

Chrissy reveals that is was a difficult question to answer at times. “You’re like, ‘I’m trying.’ What I really want to say is, ‘I’m trying and I can’t.'” She adds, “It didn’t feel right to tweet like, ‘Ugh, doing my IVF shots again.'”

Her transparency has been met with a lot of support on social media. “John and I have been going through this for years and it’s something that has been a part of our lives and our friends have known. So it’s just nice to have a show and kind of acknowledge it to people because I felt like I was keeping a secret from them and it was weird,” she says.  “So it’s nice to have all my social media friends know and have them share their stories, too.”

So how does Legend feel about her public announcement? Chrissy says John is “really happy” their story is out there. “We’ve been open about it, just never public,” she says.
