Jussie Smollett Debuts “Hemmingway” Song Tonight on Empire

by

Chuck Hodes/FOXJussie Smollett premieres a new track tonight on Empire, and he warns that if you date him, he will write a song about you.

In the song “Hemmingway,” he croons about an eternal love, singing, “I know I loved you from the first day/Don’t know just how you turn the gray skies to blue/But it’s true that I’m gonna keep on loving you.”

In describing the song, Smollett comments, “It’s a fairy tale put to a beat. It is one of those classic love songs.” He adds, “Anybody who has ever felt just an inkling of love can understand what I’m saying and how I feel in the song.”

The actor/recording artist advises anyone who may go out with him that he will sing about them. “The saying is don’t date a writer, you’ll become a storyline. Don’t date a lyricist, you’ll become a lyric. Don’t date Jussie Smollett because you’ll become an entire song.”

You can view the behind-the-scenes video on the Empire YouTube channel.

Empire airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
