Justin Timberlake Re-Opens Legendary NJ Venue to Film Target Commercial

by

Dana Edelson/NBCMaxwell’s, a legendary music venue in Hoboken, New Jersey that shut its doors on July 31 after 35 years of hosting indie rock concerts, re-opened them again Wednesday night for Justin Timberlake.

The Jersey Journal reports that Justin used the venue as the site for a new Target commercial, and thousands of fans showed up to watch the filming after he put the word out on Twitter Wednesday evening.  “Join me & @Target tonight for just one song. Let’s ‘Take Back the Night,’ he tweeted. “First 150 get in.  See you there!”

Police, who frantically tried to control the fans packing the streets around the club, told the paper that Justin finished his shoot around 9 p.m.  Justin’s wife Jessica Biel also attended.  Justin is teaming with Target for the deluxe release of his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2.

Rolling Stone notes that JT isn’t the first world famous superstar to have used the club for a film project — Bruce Springsteen shot part of his video for “Glory Days” there in the ’80s.
