Kat Graham’s mom super proud of her success & philanthropic work

by

ABC RadioKat Graham has a lot to be thankful for, including the support of her mother.

And with Mother’s Day fast approaching, the former Vampire Diaries actress and “Sometimes” singer tells ABC Radio that her mom is “super proud” of her career success — but maybe even more proud of her philanthropic work, which previously entailed working with the United Nations, and her present humanitarian efforts for not-for-profit organization Empower 54.

“She’s somebody that knows that my goal and all the work that I’m trying to do to help people is probably, it would need to always comes first,” Kat says.

“So, that’s the stuff that really excites her, when I was working with the UN, with the refugee crisis happening there, when I’m doing my Empower 54 stuff, that’s what gets her the most excited and she really believes in me.”

Of course, it takes a tenacious, strong-willed person to succeed in the entertainment industry, and Kat got both of those traits from her mom.

She explains, “My mother and I have no idea what the word ‘no’ means. So, when I hear ‘no,’ my mom just comes into my head. ‘They just mean not right now.'”

Kat’s sophomore album, Love Music Funk Magic, arrives June 2.

Fans can also see the superstar on the big screen in the highly-anticipated Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me, arriving June 16, and the comedy Where’s the Money, set for release later this year.
