Jon Kopaloff/Getty ImagesR&B star Kehlani celebrated her 25th birthday on Friday by announcing her forthcoming album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, is expected May 8th.

Kehlani also unveiled the cover art for the album which shows her in some daisy dukes peaking over the backyard wall, with a watering hose. She also continues her streak of DIY “quarantine-style” self-shot and edited music videos for “Everybody Business” and “Toxic.”

“The album cover is a depiction of the never-ending duality of ‘good’ and ‘bad.’ It’s a tale of perspective,” Kehlani said in a press release. “The sun is shining, the sky is blue, but clearly something has gotten my attention. Paired with the back cover, we come into the question of is the grass really greener on the other side? Good things are good…until they aren’t. Then, were they ever really good?”

Kehlani had a crazy beginning to the new year, starting with her break up with YG, and the loss of her friends, rising female rappers Lexii Alijai and Chynna Rogers. And of course, she, like millions of others, is at home, stuck inside due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

It Was Good Until It Wasn’t is Kehlani’s second studio album, following 2017’s gold-certified SweetSexySavage, which peaked at #3 on Billboard‘s Top 200.
