Keke Palmer knows the power of social media. That’s because a single tweet of hers scored her a role in the fifth and final season of Issa Rae‘s Insecure, which is one of her favorite shows.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the 28-year-old actress shared a screenshot of a tweet she wrote in September of 2020, which claimed, “Hey @IssaRae there’s been a mix up. I posted about my excitement for season 5 of Insecure and now everyone thinks I’m gonna be on it. We can’t let them down, put me in to beat Condola’s [butt] real quick.”
Palmer captioned the update, “Careful what you wish for.”
“Genuinely so thankful to @issarae! I always shoot my work shots(cause I loves to werk),” Keke continued with a nervously smiling emoji, adding, “what’s the worst that can happen?”
The actress closed with some meaningful advice to her 10 million followers, telling them, “Present your skill, you never know how it can be of service.”
Rae jumped in on the fun by joking in the comment section, “So this the frame right before you beat her [rear], right?”
Palmer, while not disclosing what role she plays in the show’s final season, replied with, “ummm YES!!”
The trailer for Insecure’s final season dropped Wednesday, and features a split-second cameo of Palmer who, surprisingly, is standing right next to Christina Elmore‘s Condola, who is rocking a baby in her arms.
Insecure returns October 24 at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
