Kelly Rowland Promises New Music is on the Way, Talks Balancing Career with Son Titan

by

ABC RadioKelly Rowland has a lot on her plate. In between filming her BET reality show, Chasing Destiny, recording new music, and being a wife and mother to her son Titan, the singer found time to perform in front of lucky students inside a NYC middle school on Monday. As part of her partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Rowland gave an acoustic performance of her Destiny’s Child hit, “Survivor,” and her hit song, “When Love Takes Over.”  Following her showcase, the singer tells ABC Radio that she’s making progress on the follow-up to 2013’s Talk a Good Game and that she’s doing her best to balance everything.

“Yes, there is new music on the way,” she says, adding, “I’m learning to balance and that’s actually part of learning to balance because when I’m away from Titan I am missing him and I also don’t want him to be on somebody’s couch one day going, ‘My mom wasn’t there!’ So I’m trying, I’m learning to balance.

So how does she fit music into her daily schedule? “So like in the morning, I’ll go, or his nap times, I go into the studio or at night,” she explains. “I run the course during the night so sometimes I’ll not have sleep and I’m going right into mommy hood because I want to spend time with him, he’s my best friend. He’s awesome.”

While she didn’t spill on release dates for new material, we will soon get to see Rowland putting together the next big girl group when BET’s Chasing Destiny premieres April 5 at 10 p.m. ET.
