Kelly Rowland says motherhood didn’t stop her from satisfying her physical needs

She tells Entertainment Tonight, “You know, that six-week period [after childbirth] feels like forever and, as a gentleman, [my husband] wanted to give me a little more space. I’m like, ‘No.’ ‘Let’s go!’ I’m still a mom and it doesn’t matter.”

Besides reflecting on the importance of balancing romance and child-rearing with hubby Tim Witherspoon, Kelly also remembers “feeling a little bit overwhelmed” before giving birth.

However, she was lucky enough to receive advice from three very special women in her life: BeyoncéSolange and her late mother Doris Rowland Garrison

She says, “They were like, ‘You’re gonna love as you go.’ [What] I love the most is that they didn’t just say, ‘Oh, well, just do this.’ They were allowing me to figure it out on my own and I’m so appreciative to them for that.”

Now, with the arrival of her first book, Whoa, Baby! Kelly is happily passing along her knowledge about childbirth and motherhood to other women who have questions, just as she once had not too long ago.

“The one piece of advice I would give [to a new mom] is to not be so hard on herself,” she says. “I think as a new mom you have this thing where you feel like you have to figure everything out for yourself.”

She adds, “I would say, ask for help if you need it.”
