Kelly Rowland is setting the record straight about the possibility of reuniting with her sisters in song, Destiny’s Child

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight at this year’s Beautycon Festival in Los Angeles, Rowland shut down rumors that her and her fellow band mates, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Michelle Williams, would be hitting the road in 2020 for a world tour.

“That was news to me, just as much as it was to you!” Rowland responded when asked to comment. “I was like, ‘Oh! My god, a tour is happening! Someone call me.'”

According to the rumor mill, the “Independent Women” are busy at work recording new music together and will be trekking across the globe in celebration of their reunion. Though Kelly says that’s far from the case, she’s not opposed to the idea.

“Everybody’s supportive of each other’s personal ventures right now,” said Kelly. “If it were to happen, I would want it to be a surprise.”

She added: “I feel like we know so much now. I feel like your news is right at your fingertips and sometimes it’s very bad journalism! Shame on you, whoever reported that.”

The closest thing we got to a Destiny’s Child reunion tour recently was April of last year, when the trio reunited on stage on consecutive weekends during Beyoncé’s Coachella festival headlining performance, singing “Lose My Breath,” “Say My Name” and “Soldier.”

Destiny’s Child recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of their seminal album, The Writing’s On the Wall, with a special vinyl reissue of the project. The sophomore effort spawned a handful of timeless songs, including “Say My Name” and “Bills, Bills, Bills.”
