KEM Says Tamar Braxton Complements His Promise to Love Tour

by

Motown RecordsKEM was very particular when choosing an opening act for his headlining North American outing, dubbed the Promise to Love Tour. The singer tells ABC News Radio why selecting Tamar Braxton made sense for his upcoming fall tour, which begins Friday, November 6 in Los Angeles.

“I couldn’t be more excited about it, you know I think that we complement each other well,” KEM says of sharing a stage with Tamar.  “She’s having a moment now with Dancing with the Stars and her television shows, I have a great album, Promise to Love, and it’s a great way to wrap up the year.”

The singer also reveals what he respects most about his tour mate. “She can sing! Can’t be mad at a girl who can sing man, you know. She can sing and I think that at this day and age that can get lost,” he says. “So, I respect that and you want to have somebody on your show when you’re doing a tour who has something to say and who audiences can relate to and who they want to see, and people want to see Tamar right now. Her music is incredible and I’m looking forward to being out on the road with her.”

After supporting Charlie Wilson‘s extensive tour earlier this year, KEM admits that he feels a little pressure with his headlining trek.

“There’s always pressure, if there wasn’t pressure, you know, I would be nervous, you know, it goes with the territory and [you] always want to challenge yourself and give the best performances you can give.”

The R&B crooner will make stops in Atlanta; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; New York; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before wrapping up his tour on December 6 in Southaven, Mississippi.

The trek will support KEM’s latest album, Promise to Love, as well as Braxton’s upcoming album, Calling All Lovers, arriving October 2.
