Keyshia Cole, Ashanti Verzuz battle gets new date

“RAIN, SLEET, HAIL, SNOW LET’S GO… Join us Thursday, January 21st as we kick off the first #VERZUZ of 2021 with @Ashanti and @KeyshiaCole,” the official Verzuz account announced in an Instagram post on Tuesday evening. “Thank you everyone for being patient with us. We can’t wait for this magical night with Keyshia and Ashanti!”

The songstress’ were originally supposed to face-off in an in-person battle on December 12 but it was postponed after Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19. The second scheduled date of January 9 was also pushed back, with Verzuz announcing that they would revert to having the artists perform from separate locations, like they did at the start of lockdown. 

“…as COVID-19 numbers continue to increase, safety is a top priority for us,” they shared at the time. “As much as we enjoy having everyone together in the same room, to protect the artists and everyone who works with us in putting the show together, we’ll be going back to separate locations for a bit.”

Fans can watch Cole and Ashanti go song-for-song on the Verzuz Instagram and on Apple Music at 8 p.m. ET. on January 21.
