Keyshia Cole says latest role on Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood is a great platform

by

ABC/Randy HolmesKeyshia Cole is one of the newest cast members on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, and the “Heaven Sent” singer tells Billboard the show is just what she needed.

Keyshia calls the show “a great platform for one to expand your reach,” adding, “I was going to go for my own show, but time frame was very slim.”

Although Keyshia is practically a reality show veteran, having starred in three reality series of her own — Keyshia Cole: The Way It IsKeyshia Cole: All In, and Keyshia & Daniel: Family First — the entertainer was relieved to discover how little work she had to put in on Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood as opposed to her previous shows.

“It’s half the work. I was happy,” she says. “One scene a day or maybe two at the max. It would be maybe shooting for an hour and then that’s it. It takes me more to put my clothes on, makeup and stuff than that.”

Besides her new VH1 gig, Keyshia says she’s completed some new songs for fans, but is still seeking to create “something with a little rhythm.”

“I’m trying to fight the ballads at the moment because I just feel like it’s the summer,” she says. “I’m not ready to slow it down. I want to dance and shake my derriere.”

She also hopes to work with Ty Dolla $ign “because he’s super talented” and wants to create another shoe line, start a clothing line for son Daniel Hiram Gibson Jr., and finally sign an artist to her label imprint.

“Oh yeah, I would love to sign a girl in the ‘hood — a singer or a rapper,” admits Keyshia.
