Facebook.com/RyanLeslieA slew of musical artists signed an open letter to Congress, lending their voices to stop gun violence in America.
Published on June 23 by Billboard, Us Weekly reports that the letter shows a significant number of celebrity signatures in the urban music industry, such as Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Questlove, Ryan Leslie, Talib Kweli, Terence Blanchard, Vic Mensa and Lecrae.
Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Billy Joel and Andy Samberg are among a host of other well-known performers that have signed their names as well.
The open letter asks Congress to “enforce stricter laws” for those purchasing guns in the United States.
“We call on Congress to do more to prevent gun violence that kills more than 90 Americans every day and injures hundreds more, including: require a background check for every gun sale, and block suspected terrorists from buying guns,” Billboard editors write.
The letter comes a week after the tragic shooting death of late pop singer Christina Grimmie, and the Pulse nightclub mass shooting, both having occurred in Orlando, Florida.
