MGMAretha Franklin‘s youngest son is blasting the upcoming Queen of Soul biopic starring Jennifer Hudson and is calling for Aretha’s fans to boycott the movie.

“The Franklin family (does not) support the movie that is in production!” 49-year-old Kecalf Franklin commented on Facebook. He protested that family members were not consulted about facts in the film.

“How can you make a movie about a person and not talk to the person’s sons or grandchildren about important information?” he continued.

Kecalf says the family is not critical of Hudson and mentioned that his mother selected the Cats star to star in the biopic, titled Respect.

“Everything else is being done against our wishes,” he added.

Aretha’s attorney, David Bennett, says Kecalf’s comments are related to his petition to replace her niece, Sabrina Owens, as executor of the estate.

“This is all about his attempts to become the personal representative of the estate,” Bennett tells The Detroit Free Press.

As previously reported, the biopic also stars Forest WhitakerMary J. BligeMarlon WayansAudra McDonaldMarc MaronTituss Burgess and Tate Donovan.

Respect is due to open in theaters in October.
