Laurence Fishburne producing TV series about the comedian known as the voice of teachers

ABC/Aaron PooleLaurence Fishburne has segued from drama to comedy as one of the stars of black-ish, and now he’s producing a TV series about a teacher turned comedian.

The two-time Emmy winner is developing a series about comic Eddie B, who segued from teaching school in Houston to headlining his “Teachers Only” comedy tour across the country, according to Deadline.

Eddie is the self-proclaimed “voice of teachers,” and the show will be inspired by his standup routines. In the untitled series, he’ll portray a middle school football coach who, due to budget cuts, is forced to teach science in order to keep his job.

Fishburne, who portrays Pops in black-ish, starred earlier this year in John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum. He’s set to star in several films being produced in 2020, including the crime drama Crimson Blues, and the sci-fi thriller Rendlesham.
