Lauryn Hill Launches Diaspora Calling Music and Art Series in Brooklyn

Credit: Rick Kern/WireImageLauryn Hill is celebrating the African Diaspora. The singer has launched a three-day series of music and art events dubbed Diaspora Calling.

The singer’s inaugural series will begin with a private art gallery showing at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre, which opens to the public today. Hill will also headline concert on Friday, April 15 for the Diaspora Calling! Music Festival, which will be live-streamed on Tidal.

According to her website, Hill explains the festival is “intended to celebrate the rich tapestry of artists from the African Diaspora while also illumining persistent and irrepressible themes… Even if we work independently, we are a resounding collective voice, both reconciling and embracing our relationship to history, our origins, our future and to ourselves.”
