by

ABC/Image Group LALizzo brought the house down singing Sam Cooke‘s classic “A Change Is Gonna Come” on Global Citizen’s One World: Together at Home broadcast special Saturday. The “Cuz I Love You” singer delivered a riveting performance of conviction and hope, performing the song for millions at home due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

“Thank you to everyone working hard to keep us safe,” Lizzo said as she closed her performance. “Thank you to everyone staying home keeping themselves safe. I love you, we got this, we’ll get through this together.”

Stevie Wonder and John Legend were also among the many other performers offering hope through music during the global online concert, which raised more than $127 million for the World Health Organization’s efforts to support healthcare workers worldwide.

Surprise guests and former first ladies Michelle Obama and Laura Bush commended the WHO’s efforts during the global pandemic. The two also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all medical responders, from veterinarians to surgeons, saying “You’re the fabric of our country and your strength will carry us through this crisis.”

The complete One World: Together at Home concert has since been uploaded in its entirety to Global Citizen’s YouTube, along with individual performances.
