Loni Love wants women to never give up on love in new memoir, ‘I Tried to Change So You Don’t Have To’

by

Hachette BooksLoni Love is sharing an important message for women in her inspiring new memoir I Tried to Change So You Don’t Have To: Never give up on love.

In her new book, the Emmy-Award winner offers candid advice about not conforming, loving yourself, and using your God-given flaws to unlock your true potential. Love tells ABC Audio that her book also sheds light on the importance of love.

“The message for women, especially when they get older, is that it’s never too late for love,” she says. “Never give up trying to find that special somebody.”

Of course, this message hits close to home for the actress and comedian, who has been open with fans about finding love later in life. Love met her current partner James in 2019 on a dating app, explaining that she wasn’t sure if she’d ever find love herself.

“And I think people have seen me get emotional about just sisters in general and how I feel like a lot of my sisters — not all black women, but some — they’ve sacrificed…raising kids and their careers,” Loni says. “And then they look up and then they’re by themselves.”

“And I’m like, ‘Don’t give up. There are ways that you can, you know, find great guys that are out there too,'” she continues. “So I talk about that in the book. And I just want people to know that they’re loved and they can be loved and love is out there for them.”

I Tried to Change So You Don’t Have To: True Life Lessons is now available for purchase.
