Mack Wilds says love, lust and loss inspired sophomore album AfterHours

Photo Courtesy of VH1Quiet time at night — with only his thoughts to keep him company — gave singer-actor Mack Wilds the inspiration he needed to create his sophomore album, AfterHours

He tells ABC Radio, “It’s just inspired by the thoughts, the feelings and the ideas that you kind of get at night…those feelings of love, lust and loss.  And we just built the whole project off of that.”

Besides using his nighttime thoughts to motivate his music, Mack also uses his memories of being a ’90s baby to motivate his acting choices.

He plays DeeVee in the recently completed first season of VH1’s hip-hop series The Breaks

He adds, “I remember the music. The music was very vivid to me and the feelings at that time were very vivid to me. It felt like a time of pure camaraderie around people who loved music and loved having a voice. It felt like hip hop was a genre for the voiceless.”

AfterHours is available to stream and purchase now. You can also watch Mack on Shots Fired Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
