It seems some fans are taking liberties with the statue: One woman was seen applying lip gloss to its lips, while another photo shows the statue with a different hairstyle.

Aaliyah’s Twitter account posted photos of the altered statue, with the message: “We ask kindly that anyone visiting the Aaliyah wax figure @TussaudsVegas please treat it with respect, this has been a lot of years of hard work by her fans petitioning and her family’s…support ! Below is inappropriate and unacceptable.”

The same account also tweeted a message from Madame Tussauds assuring fans that they have artists on hand daily to “reset the figures and make sure they look their best every day.”

“thanks , please do , it’s a shame some people have no respect !!” Aaliyah’s account commented.

Madame Tussauds told Page Six that, while fans are allowed to touch the wax figures, they can only go so far. In a statement, the museum said, “We take pride in ensuring all guests have an authentic experience and encourage guests to interact and have fun while being respectful.”

It added, “We do have in-attraction hosts on hand to guide guests through their experience and capture that perfect Instagram picture at all times.”

The Aaliyah figure was unveiled 18 years after her tragic death in a plane crash at age 22.  She’s dressed in the outfit from the “Try Again” video: Leather pants, a silver-sequinned bra and a matching sequinned collar.
